Omeprazole is a widely used proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that treats excessive stomach acid conditions, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), stomach ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It works by reducing acid production, generally taken once daily before a meal. Omeprazole is generally effective and well-tolerated, promoting its popular use in children and adults.
